  1. Thanks Maven. Is there special consideration for home plate? Imagine a play where (in only hope by F4 to make the play), sequentially this happens : 1) F4 gloves the ball to his right, 2) F4 extends left arm in the front of the the passing BR slowing him down 3) F4 tags BR. Is that legal? [Note for all. Not being argumentative. Genuinely intrigued. Just staying curious]
  2. Sounds like we are in agreement. I'm reacting to the linked play where the Cubs catcher legally kicked the Pirates runner in the face to block him from the plate. https://www.mlb.com/video/schwarber-baez-cut-down-run/c-2405469183?tid=63817564

    Walk-up music

Did a LL game last night. No music until 6 (final inning) the team rallying from behind and now it starts from the dugout. I killed it. "You haven't done it all game. You aren't starting now."
  4. Not disputing you're correct but this makes no sense to me. Below play for example (replay confirmed in second link). Catcher has ball so he can kick the runner in the face to block plate and apply tag on the leg. Analogy would be fielder who catches the ball but can't swipe the tag in time so intentionally shoves/shoulders/leg trips runner to the ground to buy time. https://www.mlb.com/video/schwarber-baez-cut-down-run/c-2405469183?tid=63817564 https://www.mlb.com/video/cubs-throw-out-newman-at-plate/c-2406501283?tid=70467870

    Losing Count

Better than today when I rang up a strike 3... on a 3-0 count We're all human. Just keep working to get better and better.
  6. Thanks for the detail. I was (poorly) referring to a decoy that causes the player to slide, e.g. act like your about it catch the ball and tag the runner out. add : and now that I figured out what you meant by "RIM" I registered and have access. Thank you much @Jimurray
  7. New here so not sure anyone cares too much, but fwiw... in Little League even the decoy is illegal and considered obstruction.
  8. Play at home in todays Pirates - Cubs game that made me wonder. See link below but to summarize, Runner on 1st (R1), line drive to LF, R1 full tilt to score, relay throw gets to Catcher ahead of R1 (so no obstruction) but the catcher, after catching the ball, sticks out his left leg to block the diving R1 from getting to the plate and then tags him out. Call upheld on replay. Thought that comes to mind for me is how does that ruling translates too other situations? 1B catches pickoff throw ball with his left hand and uses his right arm to hold the runner off until he can tag him. Batters out? Feels like it's one thing to block the bag, i.e. catch the ball at 2B on a steel and drop your knee in front of bag, but a whole other thing to actively restrict the runner. Interested in what everyone thinks. Thanks. Link (likely have to go choose the play at bottom left to select "Cubs throw out Newman at plate") https://www.mlb.com/gameday/cubs-vs-pirates/2018/08/19/531266#game_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=531266
