  1. Ive always been trained as the field umpire to always point down if I can see it hit the ground or close a fist and hold it about 10-15 degrees out from my hip if I see it caught. No need to verbally communicate it but do it on every 3rd strike incase your partner didn't see. "Secondary responsibility"
  2. Did the runner exit the base path? I certainly wouldn't encourage it, but there isn't a governing rule (that I'm aware of) that restricts a runner from leaving their feet to avoid a tag.. i stand corrected.
  3. couldnt agree more.. stadium staff shouldnt have been let it get far enough that an official had to handle them.
  4. Yea.. I prefer to deal with the assigners but I needed to get in contact with the assigners somehow... appreciate the heads up tho! And thank you everyone for the welcomes! Happy to be here =)
  5. I'm living in McAlester and my day job is in Muskogee. I'm willing to travel anywhere also.
  6. I have Never called a one man from behind the mound and never will. AZ get just as hot and although it isn't humid, its still dehydrating to bring lots of water, gear up and call those fair foul without doubt.
  7. at one point I had written down a ton of bullet points on index cards and practiced them like my strike 3 call... Here is one of my bullet points that always gets some chuckles or chatter from coaches. "Coaches, we are both very approachable humans(I used to say gentlemen until I worked with an excellent young lady), but I expect you to approach us accordingly. If you feel we have gotten a rule interpretation ruling incorrect, please. Wait for the play to die down, ask for time, and go to the official who made the call. Any judgment calls, just stay in your dugout. They Are Final."
  8. Hey guys! Just wanted to poke in and introduce myself, Conner Burke here. Born and raised in California and spent the last 5 years in Arizona. I spend a lot of time traveling and would love to network around the country so I can do some games in other states I have been umpiring for 9 years and Started my officiating career in Antioch, CA with Babe Ruth baseball. Picked up some club ball experience in Northern and Southern California before relocating to Arizona in 2011 which offered an overwhelming work load in Little League, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, USSSA, Triple Crown, USA Baseball, MSBL, and even 2 Single-A games during spring training. I recently relocated to Oklahoma and registered with OSSAA, reached out to a couple USSSA Tournament directors to try and get in contact with some assigners but wanted to jump on here and hopefully get my name out there. I'm willing to travel ANYWHERE if someone has some ball for me, I just love being on a field. Off the field, I'm an automotive technician and have been in the automotive industry for 14 years. Like I mentioned before, I love to travel and have done 28,000 miles through 32 states since April. I'm an avid hunter and fisher. I enjoy camping, hiking, and sports of all sorts, tinkering on things with motors, and reading. Hope everyone enjoyed their labor day weekend! Glad to be here and look forward to chatting with y'all!
