I also have the wilson and it is big on the shoulders. Would anybody have any recommendations for a smaller chest protector that doesn't stick up in the shoulder area? I was looking at the champion body armour CP but a little concerned about protection. I'm a smaller guy and someone pointed out to me that the next CP I get be smaller so it would look better.

Thanks for the information guys. What would the verbal call be for batter intererence? Would "Time!" "I have batter interference"! be sufficient?

Hey everyone! My name is Austin and I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I played baseball growing up till I was a junior in high school. My dad started umpiring when I was about 13 years old. It was my dad who introduced me to umpiring and helped me get started with some of the equipment. I umpired my first game when I was 16 and was still playing baseball. The problem was once I started making some $$, I decided to start umpiring full time in the summer. My dad and I have umpired a ton of baseball games over the years together. For the first four years or so I just umpired local Catholic youth leagues, select baseball, and pony baseball. When I was about 21 or 22 I started doing Freshman baseball and a little JV. I am now 25 and still umpire part time. I have done about 20 varsity games this Spring. I still do some select baseball, but I prefer to do high school most of the time. My goal is to do college baseball someday. I have thought about attending one of the professional camps but I have not had the finances to go yet. Looking forward to learning and asking questions. The best thing I've noticed so far about this website is the equipment reviews. I have struggled finding the right kind of gear and this will help a lot.
