@BaltimoreUmpire MLB umpires do not pay for their Nike masks. They are either given to them by a catcher, or by a teams equipment manager.

The mask pads used by Cory Blaser, along with other MLB umpires such as Vic Carapazza, Mike Muchlinski, Mike Everritt are actually new mask pads made by Wilson new for this 2014 season. As of now, they are only available to MLB umpires, but are going to be available to the public this fall and Jim Kirk said that Ump-Attire will be carrying them. 

There are small differences between different kinds of masks, and if you know your stuff, you can easily differentiate. For example, a Wilson ti, the ear flaps have only one bar across them and the throat extension comes down on an angle, where as a nike ti mask, on the ear flaps there is a bar that makes a sideways V. Also the throat extension comes straight down pretty much. A honigs pro steel mask, has a shorter throat extension, as well as a curved raised bar at the top of the mask. Small differences.;

I love my XL's. I have tried the honigs ones, and the pro style Ump-Attire ones and the XL ones are far superior!
