    Yeah, the only reason I bought from them was because my new assignor down in San Diego told me to. Meanwhile, I've placed multiple orders with Ump Attire and the customer service is amazing . My plate shoes, cup, belt, and combo hat just arrived from them today (Ordered them on Monday!!!).

    Has anybody else had issues recently with The Official's Choice? I ordered 3 shirts from them over a week ago, and I still haven't received a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number. I can't contact customer service via email, and their voice mail inbox is full. What should I do?

    Thanks for all the equipment offers guys. I'm going to college in San Diego this coming fall, and am joining an association once I get down there. For this reason, I've already started to throw together a set of equipment (My parents said they'd chip in as a graduation gift). So far, I have a pair of smitty charcoal grey combo pants, pairs of black, blue, and creme shirts, a chest protector (used for $10), and a pair of new reebok field magistrates (which I found on Amazon for $35 ). I found a pair of used shin guards and a mask, which I will be picking up this weekend. @johnyg08 - Thanks for the offer, but I already bought a pair of smitty combo pants. I think 34 would be a bit to big for me anyway. @Trout78 - I'd love to take you up on your offer for a cap, but my new assignor down in SD says hats will be provided (I'm assuming there's some specific logo or something).

    I was definitely in the slot (my head was a little bit to the left/right of the corner of the plate). The toe of my slot foot was even with the heel of the catcher. I guess it must have looked a little unusual because it wasn't wide enough.

    To grayhawk: Thanks a lot for the advice In response to the points you made: 1.) I'll definitely try to do that instead. 2.) Was I not fast enough up the line? 3.) The coach though the pitcher was throwing curve balls (which aren't allowed in Bronco), but I didn't see any. 4.) I usually signal outs, infield fly, time plays, and whether I have the play at third, but my partner wasn't very familiar with 2 man mechanics. 5.) Yeah, it looks like I need to tone it down on the more obvious calls.

    Thanks so much for the feedback. I was verbalizing balls, but after watching the video's I realize that I was doing it to quietly. In general, I felt like I was being louder than I actually was.

    Hi guys. I'm a youth umpire, and am looking for feedback on my plate mechanics, timing, and basically anything else you can think of. Please don't be too harsh about my attire, because as a youth ump, I really don't have enough money to buy my own equipment, so I just use what the league provides. Any suggestions about affordable equipment, however, would be most welcome. Here are a few videos of me working the plate in a PONY game (11-12 yr olds).
