We've now got 6 people interested. If we can get a few more, maybe 10, I'll start this contest, so get your video cameras out and start recording. As of now the prize would still be pride.

Like many of you I have read the posts regarding the “trolling” situation on officiating.com. I want to make it clear to you that I will not tolerate the “trolls.” I want to have an open discussion area for umpires of all levels where nobody would feel intimidated to ask any question and get a knowledgeable response. This is not to say I do not want lively, spirited discussion because I do. But the line is crossed when there are personal attacks or degrading comments. Ya’ll are great. Undoubtedly we will see some folks just out to instigate others. If/when this happens please report it, but do not respond or “feed the trolls.” I will handle the situation.

I've received a few questions as to why some articles have such a higher read count than others. The quick and dirty answer is marketing. For instance I have linked directly to my article in other sites such as ABUA & officiating.com. This draws in the most hits for these articles. Unfortunately, for me, these readers tend just to read the article then go back where they come from. Very few tend to browse the site beyond that. Another thing which happens is that articles are emailed out. Each article features an email option for users or for you to email out the article. True story: JohnT's article on being a scheduler was emailed anonymously to the commissioner of my association (anonymous emails no longer an option, sorry). My commish emailed it out to all 120+ umps and many did read it. So email out your article to who ever you think may have interest, you never know where it will end up. When you visit the forums be sure to check out the articles too or even write one to be published.

blue bomber, Thanks for the feedback! I will be reducing the ads. I plan on eliminating the Amazon ads shortly, and reducing the Google ones. I am toying around with ad placement and am attempting to keep the ads as non-intrusive as possible. My goal is to continue to build membership and have enough traffic to start selling ads directly versus through Google. I would limit the number of ads per page and hopefully they would be the most relative ads for the community versud what Google things will be most relative. As for donations I have toyed around with donations, I have just shied away as I do not want to be seen as begging for money. Though there some great things which can happen with donations. A friend who runs a sizable board takes donations and then has a special forums where they can post, then gives them recognition in their title. I may give donations a try, but am still on the fence. New post search.You should be able to view the posts since your last visit. The forum navigation bar has a spot new posts which will take you to only the posts since your last visit. I hope this helps. And thanks again for your input.

We have just opened our Classifieds section. For now we have decided to put an auction site on the back burner because our site is a bit too new to generate the traffic needed to be fair to sellers getting a good price for their equipment. And the way auctions work would prevent the sellers from advretising their products elsewhere. Individual advertisements are free. In response to a request by a guest. We have added a guestbook. Guestbook removed, After 3 weeks and thousands of hits to the site no contributions to guestbook. If this is something you would really like again please let me know.

The first I can help with easily In the forum click "User CP" >> Under Settings and Options select "Edit Options" >> Then under Messaging and Noitfication there is a heading Defauld Thread Subscription Mode In the drop down menu you can select to be notified on replys or posts to threads you either start or post to. The second is a known bug I am working out. Last night I fianlly gave in on trying to fix it myself and have called in the pros. I hope to now have this resolved quickly. One thing that helps, but is not a sure fire fix, is to click the remember me box when you log in. This helps but is not 100%. I will update when the issue is resolved.
