  1. I agree Kylejt. You can't go wrong with having the MLU as a backup!

    Thanks for the info!
  3. From my understanding there are some who wear the MLU through college. Initially I bought one of these cp's but shortly after got a good deal on Platinum which I upgraded to. The MLU is a great cp with great protection!
  4. +2 on the Platinum. Best cp I've owned yet!
  5. I'd take the Wilson charcoal over the davishield in a heartbeat. Can't beat the the Wilson hardshells. I have no experience with the davishield, but based on what I've read and heard,i'd go with the Wilson charcoal! That's a good price as well!
  6. Thanks for the info. Just placed an order for a few accessories!

For those of you that umpire Pony baseball, is it too late to register as a pony umpire on Pony.org? I was going to register but wanted to ask if you only have to register one time, or if you have to register at the beginning of each season? Would it be safe for me to register today, or wait til next year? Thank in advance!
  9. Protection would depend on what he is using it for? Would probably be plenty of protection up thru LL Junior I agree. Doesn't seem it would be the best protection for major league baseball.
  10. I posted the same thing before somewhere around. I'm also curious. It looks as if he modified a catchers cp and put plates on it. Doesn't look very protective to say the least.
  11. Douglas has made a couple different versions of their WV protector. The early one is the most sought after, and will fetch north of three bills. It's thin, like the Power, and offers good protection with big plastic plates. Are they worth it? I dunno. I've had them both, and would take a Gold/Platinum, and have $ left over for a plate coat. That's what I traded my old Douglas for. There are certain umpire items that fetch BIG MONEY. The Power, a certain model Douglas, +POS SUL masks, Mizuno masks with matching throat protectors, Nike masks and MLB pants. The cool factor plays into it a lot. Thanks for the info! The Douglas WV seems like a nice CP. I think the "cool" factor is what grabs attention. As far as protection, the best stuff is currently out there as you mentioned the WV Platinum/Gold. I'm happy with my platinum!
  12. Ok,thank for the heads up. Not in need of a cp at this time, just thought that was an interesting item.Glad I posted that here beforehand!
  13. Thanks for the reply! I was wondering how much of a collectable item the WV Douglas would be. Is it anywhere close to a Riddell as far as a collectable, being that they are not made anymore?
  14. Hello everyone. I'd like to read some reviews of the original WV by Douglas. How does it compare to the Riddell Power or today's WV's? Thanks!
  15. That's a nice set!
  16. The choices you mentioned were good ones. Please make sure you get a hard shell cp! As others have mentioned, look into the Champion p200 series. The Champion hard shell offers great protection for the price(about $40). I have two hardshell cp's, the Platinum and Champion hardshell. I love both cp's and they have served me well! Also,if you can, make sure you get yourself some good plate shoes! I believe Honig's had some good deals on the New Balance 450's.:)
  17. Apparently I didn't have the sg's strapped correctly, thats why they would tend to ride up on me. I have corrected that, and the sg's no longer move!
  18. Hey guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. Today I strapped my sg's differently using the X (cross) style, which worked great! My first time wearing these sg's, I strapped them straight across, which I believe lead to them riding up. I believe I have corrected the issue, and had a good game today with my sg's staying in place and not riding up. Thanks again!
  19. To the flaming poster, you're all alone on this one. Please write more clearly and intelligently for your post to even be considered.. Good job guys, go get 'em!
  20. Was your leg attached at the same time? No! I made sure of that! haha
  21. The first thing I did when I bought these SG's, was take a box cutter and cut off the toe protector.
  22. Thank you guys for all of your suggestions! I will try them for next game!
  23. Hey guys thanks for the replies. They are the correct size at "17 and fit me well, but that is the only problem I have. Can strapping them differently be the case? I did not X strap them, i just strapped them straight across. This is how I wear them before they start to ride up behind the tongue of the shoe.
