LL 6.06 a (stepping out and hitting)

Hey all, me once again with a question. in reading this rule :"a batter is out for illegal action when... hitting the ball with one or both feet completely outside the batters box" is the ball dead? can runners advance on his hit? must they return to TOP base? I sent a runner back this weekend on this play, but rereading the rule I don't find where it says that. am I missing something? I often times am. thanks, 1

not questioning... but just so I understand. you can drive in 3 runs by illegally batting a ball. how about an out of the park home run... I know its a "dead ball" but the rules say all runner advance 4 bases without liability to be put out. Sitch. home team down by 1, R3,R2,1 out bottom of last. pitching out to int. walk batter he steps over the plate and hits to the fence winning the game. is this correct? thanks again, 1

At least you had enough guts to give it a shot without pulling out the book.

That's the problem with OBR or LL rules, you may have to look at three different refrences to figure out how to handle one play. Hard to get a grasp on sometimes.

Yea, the OBR by and of themselves don't always say what they mean and mean what they say. You need publications like PBUC's book (don't have it but hear it's good), etc.

That's why I like this site. You get told interpretation plus the actual rules. Good guys on this site. :smachhead:

I find the BRD is great. It gives you three levels of interpretations on most rules, especially the tricky ones.

I bet I don't get this wrong on the field.

Maybe I'll just keep doing that...give wrong answers here, have the correct answer pointed out and then fixing my reply. It seems to stick in my head better.:smachhead:
