Well this subject has been discussed a million times on every umpire site. But it never really gets old b/c they continue to say stupid things. Here are 2 good things from Baseball Tonight Monday April 28th by John Kruk. These are not exact quotes, but the best to my memory.

Rockies vs Giants Balk called on Cain. John Kruk says something like, 'I don't know how the home plate umpire (Paul Emmel) can call that balk. He can't tell if the pitchers foot broke the plane.' He also made some comment about umpire judgment.

Reds vs Cardinals bases loaded. A ball hit by Adam Dunn hits Brandon Phillips advancing from first. Umpires correctly call time, Phillips out, Dunn to first. John Kruk said something like. 'I would have been out there arguing for the double play. That ball could have easily been a 4-6-3 double play, but that's how the umpires judged it'...

Some times it's funny to hear the sportscasters say these things, and sometimes it's infuriating as they perpetuate these myths. Coach Dad is sitting at home hears things like this and takes them to heart. While good ol' coach Dad cant remember that a dropped 3rd strike is nothing w/ first base occupied and less than 2 outs, he'll remember John Kruk thought this situation could be argued for a double play.
