Question

Good day. I have a baseball situation where there is 2 outs, a runner on 3rd, and a batter who swings and misses on a 3rd strike, but the catcher drops the pitch and goes to retrieve the ball to throw to 1st to complete the strikeout. During this time, the runner on 3rd goes home and crosses the plate before the strikeout is completed. Does the run count? Thanks.

No. OBR 5.08(a): "One run shall be scored each time a runner legally advances to and touches first, second, third and home base before three men are put out to end the inning. EXCEPTION: A run is not scored if the runner advances to home base during a play in which the third out is made (1) by the batter-runner before he touches first base...."

This is not a time play.
