Is a base coach allowed to tell the batter where the catcher is lining up behind the plate or where the target is?

If not please share the rule number.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I am not aware of any rule in NFHS or ASA that prohibits such actions. I don't have my rule books here at work but will try to remember to look it up tonight.

I can't speak for any HS rules. But, there is no rule against it in any rule set that I know of. The only thing is that coach better beware of what he is doing to his own kids. If he gets a team who doesn't like it, his hitters may get a few where the catcher can't set up and catch the ball.:home:

So, if I were that coach, I would come up with a better way to let my hitters know where the pitch is. Such as code words for inside vs. outside pitch.
