I'm going back to trying a hsm. I tried it on in dicks today and  I liked how the inside wasn't that foam rubber that will just peel away. I'm giving it another shot. Anybody else got this one? Which all star system 7 is it like?

It's an All Star MVP 2500 with Under Armour logos on it. I had the UA HSM, but I sold it to a friend who was just starting out, because it was too narrow for my big head. I really wish it was a little bigger, because it is a quality mask. I'd assume the UA is the same, because it looks like the only thing changed is the logo. I've seen some UA masks with the same she'll but a different cage on them and I've seen this one. Personally, I like the matte finish more than the gloss finish, but thay doesn't make a difference in protection.

The All-Star (which as LB says, appears to be the re-branded UA) is the only HSM I will wear (reserving judgment for the Force 3, as I don't know about it yet).

I generally use a mask on large fields, but if it's hot and even has a slight breeze or there's a short backstop or I just feel like it, I'll wear my All Star. It fits great, is very well ventilated (cooler than a mask and hat if there's any breeze, as noted), the weight is well distributed, and most importantly - I think it's the safest design in HSMs. The Wilson springs are a useless gimmick in my opinion - if you can depress them by hand, what real resistance are they giving? And I've known more than one person whose Wilson broke and they couldn't get adequate support/customer service. And other brands? No thanks, I'm not taking any chances with those toys (again, not incl Force 3 in this yet, appears promising but just never saw one).

This is a quality HSM, with excellent vision, top notch protection, good ventilation, and responsive customer service (at least on the All-Star side, don't know if they handle or UA).

Does anyone put a throat guard on it?

I personally don't because the only time I've been hit in the neck/throat with a HSM was on a bouncer and I was wearing a throat guard, so I no longer see the need for it if it's not going to do much. Thay said, I wear one with a traditional mask, so go figure. I had a Wilson 4 inch throat guard on my HSM until I took it off and now use it on my traditional masks.

All Star makes their own throat guard too, so that's an option, but I have no experience with that. I know Wilson make a throat guard specially for their HSM, but, again, I have no experience with that.

I have the Wilson throat guard for my two Shocks 2.0s. I also have a Force3 HSM but I don't like the fit as much.

I had the AS MVP2500 for a few years until I went back to a traditional mask.  Great mask, just got really hot wearing it.  As far as a throat guard, I took several shots around the bottom of my HSM, and not one got through.  The shell closes off any openings that a traditional mask doesn't.
