I took off after 2002, so this is a year I've got a lot of 1sts again.

Full schedule the whole HS JV/FR season.

I was pretty stoked, because @jimkirk is awesome and I got my Force 3 CP yesterday and was set to debut it Friday.

So Tuesday, I have a game at this school and I said "how is it that you guys can do an 11:30 am Friday game?"

Coach and AD: "What do you mean? It's 4:30"

Me: "Arbiter says 11:30"

Turns out, they had the wrong time. Partner booked a 4:30 already, so I know I'm flying solo on this game.

Monday (after a Sunday off), I wake up and have pain in my right knee, near my MCL (I think it's from tight hips and have been foam rolling all week). I work Mon-Thurs through it.

Friday comes along, no partner, and freakin 1st inning, I come out on the 1st steal attempt and my left hammy pops.

I finish the game, have a DH tomorrow morning, then off till Tuesday, but a really rough mid-season spot. Hoping I'm right on the knee and can work out the muscles on these next 3 days off.

Game went smoothly, it was like 45 out. Monday, it was almost 90. WTF!?!?!?! Coaches were cool. Final Score 12-2 (picked up 10-run in the 7th!) and wasn't too bad, all things considered.

It sucked though, because I read through threads on flying solo on here, and then my game plan went out the window on the 8th pitch of the game and I hobbled through the rest of the game.

Welcome back, hang in there with the knee. Work to get to the best angle you can for every call and own it. Don't miss strikes!

Thanks. Worked the DH with a knee sleeve (hookgrip makes great ones) and my left thigh wrapped. Took an anti-inflammatory and 800 MG Ibuprofren all weekend to try to get better. I have off till Tuesday, so hopefully will be back 100%.

I kicked a call yesterday. IFR, ball hit down 1b line, 1B goes over and whiffs on it hard. Ball lands a foot foul, thought it looked past bag, call foul as it bounces fair and I now see it's in front of the bag and it stays there.

I have to stick with call and explain to coaches that we called it IFF if fair, but once I called it foul, ball is dead. If I'd held 1.5s, I call it IF and fair ball.
