1st game since 2002

Did my 1st game since 2002 tonight.Had the plate. Freshman game.

 

Took one one-hopper past C off the forearm. 

 

I think I banged a kid out on strike 2. 3rd pitch, indicator feels funny, look down, I have ball 3 and pitch 3 was a swinging strike. I announce 1-2 count. Next pitch, ring  him up.

He stands there, I think "omg, I have the wrong count". Coach tells him to go back to the bench.

 

Rest of game is straight-forward. 

Except one play.

 

Bases loaded, base hit to LF. R3 scores. R2 is coming in, throw bounces between mound and HP, R2 is coming into score, R3 comes back and gets the bat from in front of HP. I kind of am not sure who he is now, call Time and look up to see where the runners are. Go out, discuss with BU, BR back to 1B, R1 back to 2B, R2 is out, R3 scores.

 

Visiting team(up to bat for that play) goes to put up like 3billion runs in T5 as home team pitcher can't find the strike zone and team can't field. Walk off field, change out of gear and it starts raining. It got so bad, we had bases loaded for like a half hour and coach held R2 and 3B each time.

 

Not a bad 1st game back though. I did think my zone was too small and at my first announcement on IF, I did not say that R2 was out. I said that the first run scored. I am glad I didn't say "Run scores".
