Suppose I wanted to show some interest in working with some of you on this board at CDP next summer...What is the process for getting into that?

Two ways of going about it.  One you send your info in to CDP and they can accept you to come and call for whatever week.  You are on your own dime for getting there.  The other is to get a team to sponsor you and you negotiate your expenses with them.

I didn't have a team so I put my availability on the CDP page over at umpire.org and a local team found my contact information and I am going as their umpire this year.

Either way, you will fill out the umpire participation form and send it to their offices in North Carolina.  After the initial accept they send a packet and among that is the Umpire Resume that you will fill out and send back to them.  There is a back ground check to an extent at least.

Most levels of umpires could be represented there, from rec, to travel and tournament, to high school, to college.  Week 2 last year, a MLB umpire was there watching at one point.  (Kerwin Danley from what I hear)
