Hi folks!

Just curious...

I teach a new umpire's class in my area. Our state uses the Part I test each year for the exam. Is it a T/F test, or is it a multiple guess exam?

I've been using some test questions from previous years to get them ready. they are of course T/F exams.

If you have taken the Part I exam, is it confusing? Are the questions fairly straightforward, or is it trickery city?

Thanks for your opinions and assistance!

jk,

In Illinois they went to a new "format" this year (specifically, a multiple choice, single answer format), and did not have T/F questions.

In past years, we always had a 100 question T/F test. What I learned was that the only real "trick" was to look each question up in the book rather than consider how it would apply in the "real world".

While there would typically be 2-5 questions that were so poorly written they were "unanswerable", the rest could be easily answered by looking it up in the books and seeing if the wording was identical (T) or had a "key word" or two that differed (F).

It really was that simple.

I've never scored anything but 100% on a FED test, and I always "did my own work".

We took Part I as an online test. It contained both multible choice and T/F, about a 70/30 split. I have a copy of the traditional Part I T/F test with rule cites if you would like it for teaching purposes. I also got a Part II test that is like our Part I, a combo test but it was paper. PM me with your email address if you want the traditional T/F test.
