Mariano 'Mo' Rivera pitched his last home game. A true class act. I know there is mention of this in another thread, but I think the greatest closer in history deserves his own thread. #42 will never be worn in Yankee Stadium again. Ever.post-2162-0-67301900-1380337955_thumb.jp

The league retired #42 and mo was grandfathered in.

The nostalgia flows like honey, slowly flooding the combs of my memory. Weaving its way into every crevice and cranny. I watched the last moments of that game through a waterfall. Many players have come and gone. A select few leave their indelible mark on the hearts of those who love this game. When you heard those opening licks with the mgr on the mound, you just knew there would be splinters on the grass and a W on the board. Clockwork. I heard that this game is the only one of his career he ever pitched in Yankee Stadium that the Bombers had no shot at October glory. Wow.

Stellar career
