Had a 4-game D3 series this weekend.  Normally they don't send a crew to do all 4 games -- they have 2 different crews come in (one Saturday, one Sunday - no clue why they don't make it a bit easier on the umpires and give them the entire series), but the games were originally scheduled about 350 miles from here, so they aren't going to get guys to go unless they are given the entire series.

Then they had to move the games to the other team's field because of the weather and a stadium renovation.  This move was only an hour from my house instead of 7 hours.  We kept the hotel room, of course.

Saturday - it was 34 degrees at first pitch with a wind chill of about 26 degrees.  I wasn't too cold.  I had a Cold Gear turtleneck on and Cold Gear tights along with a fleece Smitty jacket on the bases.  Windstopper gloves with hand warmers in the palms the entire game (hand warmers -- a new addition to the FSB, tundra style).

On the plate I started with gloves and took them off about the third inning.  Kept all the Cold Gear on, wore the plate coat.  I was comfortable -- actually got warm during the middle innings and then cooled off again near the end.

Sunday it was even colder - despite a marginally higher temperature, we had no sun all day.  From 1PM until 2:30PM, we had a squall and my first ever snow delay.  It was so cold I wore a Majestic ThermaBase coat over the Cold Gear and then put a Smitty fleece coat over it.  More hand warmers.  And someone, during the snow delay, loaned me a fleece head/neck/ear wrap that was a life saver.  I need to dig mine out, although I'm hoping this was really a one off this year.  Should've taken my UA hood with me.

Saturday, wind blowing straight out, the home team won 20-2 and 21-5.  Thank goodness for the conference playing with a 10-after-7 rule.  Sunday with the wind blowing straight in, the visitors won 8-5 and 6-1.  My plates were reasonable short in time -- 2:12 and 2:22.  But with that snow delay yesterday, we showed up at 11AM and didn't pull out of the lot until after 7:30PM.  I'm going to try not to calculate an hourly rate on that.  Of course, my partner reminded me that had we made the 7 hour trip, we would've gotten home about 4AM (actually, we would've gotten a hotel room).

Another D3 DH today.  63 and showers.  I'll believe 63 when I see/feel it.

My season has started.  First game was on April 16 and I have a grand total of 5 games in now.
