The pockets are in the front with their openings parallel to the belt line. They look rediculious. I ordered 2 pairs from a Canadian distributor (plate and base). Since I wear two ball bags, the bags cover the pockets so I kept the plate pants. The base pants, on the other hand, were unwearable. I had to send them back. But, like I said, if you're a two ball bag guy they're OK on the plate but I wouldn't recommend them for the bases.

Just to note - the western style pants I own are Honig's

Western style means that the pockets are just a slit across. It is very hard to put your hands inside, you have to force them in there.

There are a few benefits to this. Your pockets don't hang open when your working, which can look bad. Also, if you have any white inside your pockets and they show when on the bases, this looks terrible. You will not have this problem with Western style pants. The flipside is that you can't put your hands into your pockets, if your going for that casual look (look at the photos on the Gerry Davis website in the pants section). It is very difficult to retrieve any item that you have stored in your pockets, which may be another consideration.

I think they look sharp and it's the only style that I wear.
