Fog Out

Working a men's game in the Fall of 2000 at White Plains Park in Waldorf, MD, as the PU/Crew Chief, I ended a game in the 4th inning due to fog. The fog slowly creeped into the cozy confines of this field which is heavily surrounded by large trees around most of the field. The fog entered from the outfield fence coming towards the plate. In the 4th inning, the fog was so dense you couldn't see any of the outfielders from the plate. We delayed the game hoping it'd clear out but it only got worse. It was so thick and dense the home team left the bases on the field that night. No one wanted to get lost trying to find the bases and then trying to find how to get off the field.

That's funny. I was doing a men's game one night a similar thing happened. Trees around the outfield, fog comes in and the oufielders start struggling to see. We suspended and it cleared, we restart and it comes back an inning or so later. We did that three times before we got the game in.
