My first of the year

My first ejection of the year. Tournament, 8U game. YES, 8U game.

HT is winning 14-0, bottom of 2nd, no outs. VT coach appeals a missed touch at 1B. I clearly had him touching it. (While also watching the touch at 3rd and home, 1 man game.) I call safe, coach says nothing, but not happy I can tell.

HT is now winning 18-0, bottom of 2nd, no or maybe one out. VT coach again appeals a missed touch at 1B. Again, I had him touch, though he did almost miss this time, and sortta stutter stepped. I call safe, coach says, "He missed it, you've got to watch that." I place my stop sign up, "COACH, there will be NO more arguing of judgment calls, I had him touching 1B." He says nothing rest of the inning.

Finally they get out of the inning, losing 20-0 now. Coach walks out of dugout and motions me over with his arm. I head over there, and he in a nice, calm voice, says, "On those touches, I'm not arguing if he touched or not, I'm just saying he didn't touch." I reply (since they are 7/8 year olds, and I figure he's gonna eject himself anyway), "Coach, we are NOT discussing judgment calls." He walks away for 2 steps, turns back to me, "But hey was, well." I think he got the "B" of but out before I ejected him.

3 more outs in top of 3rd and game was over!

I'm SURE it was their players didn't touch 1st. Nothing to do with the fact that you gave up TWENTY FREAKING runs in 2 innings, or struck out looking at SEVEN pitches over the heart of the plate in your 9 at bats. That had nothing to do with you guys losing!

You gave him enough rope that's for sure. The only thing I'd suggest is that don't let the coach beckon you over. Make him come to you.

Yes. If it wasn't 7/8 "daddy" ball, he would have been gone sooner, but I figured since he really doesn't know what he's doing, and he didn't really show me up, I'd give him an extra second or two.

He called me over to his side of the field, while approaching me. I didn't really want him to come in front of the HT dugout, so that's why I walked over there. (I always go to the side that just finished batting in between innings)

An aside: I go to the opposite side. That way after I tell the pitcher and catcher "two more," I can turn to the first batter and tell him the same so he gets to the plate quicker. Ever since that's been a mechanic in college baseball, I've done this everywhere.
