How To Get Assigned To These Games

I'm new to my association so I don't know that many guys yet, and my association only does HS ball.

Sooo....How would one go about finding work for travel ball, USSSA, and AAU?

I would check with other guys in your association and see if they do these games. Also I believe we have 2 other active members from the Atlanta area who may have some information on other associations in the area.

I too recently swithced associations about 2 years ago. you would be suprised how many assigners are at meetings at various levels of ball. Besides my associations website lists each level of ball with contact info. Just ask around Im sure you will find what you are looking for. Best of luck. Balls and strikes baby!!!!

So my partner last night calls games with an association that does a ton of travel ball. The really big tourneys with good players. That's cool. He gave me the business card of the director, and told me to tell the director who sent me. Guess he liked the way I worked.

Now about working games by OBR rather than FED.... I just got the FED stuff nailed down!

AAU, USSSA play onder FED rules, as most other travel ball. So that will be great experience.

For others who may be looking on how to get in with a certain group - what I've done when I've moved is actually gone to a game site and talked with the umpires after the game. I usually have something on (not my uniform shirt, though) that would identify me as an umpire, so that they don't think I'm some "nut job", and ask them about getting in contact with their scheduler. Most have been generous and given me the info I need - contact name/phone number - the rest is up to me at that point in actually contacting that person.

Most groups, especially about mid-season, are dying to find umpires; so, the contact, especially if about that time, will be greatly appreciated by the scheduler in most cases.
