Funny Play at the Plate

Runner on 3rd. 2 out. 0-0 count. Passed ball to back stop. Catcher retrieves ball flips to pitcher at the front of the dirt along the 3rd base line, catches ball in glove. Then applies tag to runner as he begins to try and slide, but drops the ball. Runner as begins to slide stumbles in front of plate with his feet dangling above the plate (yet to have touch the plate). He tries to bring his feet down but misses the plate, and just as he is trying again, pitcher picks up the ball tags runner and holds on to the ball this time.

He's out! Probably one of the funniest things I have seen.

Just a "what?" Guess they had a hard time believing he never touched the plate, but clearly he never did. Everyone saw it.

And absolutely on the timing. I just waited. NEVER be the guy that calls out with the ball sitting on the ground!
