obstruction in a rundown

LL...rundown between 2nd and 3rd...im by myself...its goes back and forth a few times and at one point the runner is headed towards thirds and there is a fielder w/out the ball in line with the base (i think the kid with the ball was behind closer to 3rd) and the runner stops a good step or two before the fielder and turns and heads back to 2nd and gets thrown out...i dodnt call obs..mainly because i was running from the infield and trying to get in the best spot for a tag or a out of baseline, and it didnt really register immediately as to why he turned and ran back...the coach wanted obs and i just said that i didnt see that he was obstructed and that he turned back on his own....but i dont know...

Hey TH3 You are alone out there hustling to get into the best position. You only can do the best you can and it sounds like you did.

Chalk it up as a learning experience and know that next time something like this happens you will be watching the play more than trying to get into the perfect position. I don't envy anyone who has to do games solo. regardless of the age group

never say "i didnt see coach" , in upper levels and HS or above, the coaches will chew you up and spit you out . "in my judgment " coach it wasnt obs , sounds better . this would be on almost any call . "i didnt see" opens a can of worms , especially if you are being paid . just my .2 cents btw the runner was obstructed .
