I came so close to passing out it wasn't even funny. Thank God for the heat timeouts they let us take in the middle of the 3rd. I sat down at the back stop and it took 15 mins to get me cooled off. It took two hour to play 4 inning. It was aweful baseball and i was doing all i could to stay alive. I finished the game and took the field for the second game.

My first game today was in the field and it was really hot. Im resting now for my plate game at 5:30. The coaches have been great. Only problem I have had was with one of the state board member pissed off the I didn't check the bats in the first game and I made a kid take off a wrist band off that they were told they couldn't wear. But I handled it and we moved on.

I got back from Hackberry last night about 9 PM. I had parked at my friends house in Shreveport off of Kings Highway by Georges Diner. They had a nice rain storm blow in. We loaded the boat this weekend with Reds, trout and I put out some crab traps. Now on to the heat and Dixie Ball. I told you last week this was not a good gig. I am hoping that I do not have to do any Regional tournies. I would welcome 88 - 93 degrees right now. We are talking 102 with a heat index around 112. I am not sure I have ever heard of a "cool off" time out. Dixie has enough pitching changes and other goofy things to not prolong a game any longer. I did order me a vest to refrigerate and wear and it should be here shortly. Just make sure you hydrate the day before your games with pottasium pills, water, gatorade etc and you will be fine. I did two plates in a row last week during this mess. I take a cooler to the field with me with ice, drinks, etc.

Dixie has a lot of goofy rules concerning pitching, head first slides etc. A point of emphasis is bats this year so I know where he was coming from. The jewlery issue is a non-issue. During pregame I tell em to take it off. I have to brush up on there rules every year. I do not call much Dixie during the year but always get drug into State tournies, districts etc. Sometimes these coaches go into shock when they do not have Uncle Bob calling the "Daddy" ball games. Glad you made it through it ok. But I did ask you if you wanted to go with us. Cold adult beverages, BBQ and a boat load of fish undoubtedly beat the heck out of a 3 hour game that paid around 50 bucks.
