had 3 out of the ordinaries in one 14u game today..

batter hit by pitch while swinging for strike 3 (2nd time this year...1st one ended a game)

batter hit by pitch who did nothing to avoid (he got hit the 1st time up and had left his arms out there and i thought of bringing him back, but i was expecting the ball to break more than it did so i gave him benefit of the doubt)...this time he just stood there and took a slow one right in the butt and was half way to 1st before the ball hit the ground...hey kid come back here....

runner steals 2nd and assumes that a pitch was fouled ( it was swung at and missed and hit off catchers glove)...he leaves 2nd and slowly jogs back to 1st...everyone just kind of stood and watched unsure of what to do and he got back on 1st and that was it...

as i said, mildly interesting (and under 2 hours)

The last time this kind of thing happened to me, I was BU and watched the runner return. After he got back w/no play (F2 just held the ball) the DM (from the 1B dugout) asks me, "Is he allowed to do that?" :jerkit:

I ignored him.

This happened a couple weeks ago in a JR LL TOC game I did. DM yells "Get him!!" and they do for #3, as he trots back to first without a care in the world. That answered any questions about the legality for everyone in the ballpark. I love when I don't have to explain the rules.

The best part was that he stood on first base for a few beats as his teammates took the field in disgust.

Had a partner yesterday keep a batter at bat after being HBP in the ass.:shakehead:

Said he made no attempt to move.

After the game I talked with him and told him that if the ball is that far in the box I don't care if he moves or not he gets a base.

He said he had been thinking about it and wouldn't make that same call again.

I don't know why a Manager didn't come apart on him for it.

The batter did walk on the next pitch anyway.

Worked w/a guy last weekend who told me he had a partner do that in a game he had called that morning! It's an epidemic!

That's how they preach it on the much more popular forum, ThatGuy.org

As I say, I'm in the minority, he doesn't have to give me much but he has to give me something. The exception is if I think he got frozen on the pitch.

Me too - but I've never seen a player get hit in the ass that didn't move some. I know it's possible, but I've never seen it.
