The league employs about 60 Hillsborough teens each summer in the Junior Umpire Program where the kids not only learn about being responsible employees, but also get to help referee baseball games in town.

The program was started in 1999 by Richard Siegel, a certified adult umpire still with the league, to develop a sustainable pool of trained umpires to meet the growing need of the league during the regular spring and summer seasons.
