Yesterday I worked a DH in junior legion, which can be a hit and miss kind of thing with regard to the quality of ball. Game 1 I am U1 and the game is done relatively quickly and played relatively well. Game 2 not so much. The pitchers for both teams are not really pitchers, but players who can throw from the mound to the area around home plate. There are lots of balls and the pace is glacier like. In the 4th inning I decided to try using the scissors instead of HOK because what I was or was not doing had no bearing on the atrocious pitching. I had never used that stance, and it was the perfect situation to try another approach. I had the opportunity to work out a lot of the kinks, like where I should place my hands, how to step into position, depth of my trailing foot, keeping a solid base, etc. I also changed my strike call while using the scissors from a hammer to pointing. The stance seemed to open up the strike zone a little more, not that it really helped in this game, and this morning I have no more aches or pains than from any other game(s) I have worked. I think I like it. I will have to use it in some other levels to make a more informed decision, but I can see myself using it more in the future.

I'm about 5"8' and I stand in the box position. I was just wondering; what are the advantages and disadvantages of the scissors stance? Though I'd try it out my next game.
