Many of you know, by my posts that I do not tend to have a lot of EJs. Well last Sunday I had 3 at one time during a adult game. Opening Day of Season VT starts with 11 players but by 5th inning 2 of them had to leave for other things. Bottom of 5th inning, VT Manager takes the mound as F1. He throws low side arm and does have some heat, but no movement. Walks 1st batter on 4 straight pitches. 2nd Batter quick hit on error. 3rd batter has 3-1 count and next pitch gets him in the knee hard. Batter starts towards the mound and starts to throw his helmet at F1. F2 jumps on his back. We now have every player, coach and manager, on the field. I stand back and watch the arguing, pushing and shoving. No punches were thrown. It starts to clear up, when someone on the HT said something towards the VT F1 and he made a charge towards that player. That cleared up pretty fast and everyone separated again. My partner and I conferred and agreed the Batter was gone for throwing the helmet at F1. VT F2 was gone for jumping on the batters back. VT F1 was gone for charging another player when things were almost calmed down. He was also the Manager. We called both Managers together and advised them of the Ejs and that since the VT was now down to 7 players and needed to have at least 8 to play, the game was over. Both teams pleaded to forget the EJs and to let them finish the game and that they were very sorry. They did this without any argument and fully understanding our position and responsibility. Off course I said no EJs stand and game is over. They respected our decision and there were no hard feelings. League President can sort out suspensions. Even with the incident, everyone shook hands and left the field without any further problems and we got a hour break before the next game .
