That's a slick looking mask. Somewhat regretting picking up the Diamond BigLeague little bit ago. How big and thick are the pads going to be on the Mirage12? As I mentioned in my other post that you commented on, I am not a fan of the stock BigLeague pads

Appreciate the in-depth review and recommendations. Is there any info on the upcoming GD pads? Those look pretty large as well, and they are marketed as largest bottoms pads. I'm looking for something smaller and less profile that doesn't take view away.

I recently purchased a Diamond Big League mask. I love the light weight but not a fan of the cheek pad. It's pretty thick and high, taking away a lot of my view. Any recommendations to adjust the stock pad or suggestions for different pads?

Thanks for the quick replies. Compared to the plate pants, did not see any reinforced stitching in the seat, and sure enough pleat to pleat was 9 1/2; so going to say these are base pants. But wow they sure are baggy

This will be my first umpire season. I found 3 Smitty pants from facebook marketplace. The seller marked the pants himself; 2 being plate pants, 1 base pants. Trying on the base pants, they too seem to be wide/baggy in the legs. I'm thinking these might be combo pants instead of the specific base pants. The tag looks to say SM289 which doesn't seem to bring up anything Smitty product related. Is there a way to tell if these are combo or base pants?

Not currently an umpire but planning on being one come spring. I’ve been going over the Little League RIM and would like some clarification about 6.05(b). I have a good understanding of the uncaught 3rd strike ruling, but in the RIM, there is a line in the “instructor’s comments” box that now has me confused. It states “Now in all divisions of baseball and softball, with the exception of Minor League and Tee Ball, runners may advance on a third strike that is not legally caught in flight by the catcher.” It also defines what “legally caught” is as in the catcher’s glove before the ball touches ground. I’m fairly convinced I’m overthinking this and interpreting it wrong, but based on the instructor comments, it would seem that for a minor league game, runners may not advance on a 3rd strike pitch that bounces. This obviously doesn’t seem right as runners are allowed to leave their base, or “steal” when the ball reaches the batter. Thanks for the replies
