  1. IF you are worried about this then just pregame it. There is no prescribed mechanic. If you want to play it like a "F4 pressure" then pregame it and do it. IF everyone knows there job and executes there won't be any surprises.
  2. Don't you mean to say you were trained to do it that way which is all fine and good. Just don't go telling everyone they should do it that way. Saying one-one, or two-oh is just fine and just as acceptable.
  3. You may not find any differences in the book regarding RHP and LHP but lets face it The LHP has an advantage when holding runners at first. The LHP can raise his free knee straight up just as if he was pitching and then he can step to first. If a RHP does this it will be a balk.
  4. Look; the batter, when in the box ready to hit, cannot have any part of his foot within 6 inches of the plate. If there are no lines you have to use your judgment. You tell him to back off. You might even REMIND him a second time. Then you dump him. The rest of the team will get the message
  5. If he is trying to glide step, the RHP better not lift his knee even so much as I see a ripple in his right pants leg. ecause if he does I am Balking him :rollinglaugh:
  6. Does any one else have problems with this website , particularly the forum tools. I can't seen to be able to call up the tools so I can mark a forum as read.
  7. I am having trouble calling up the forum tools (in order to mark a forum read) at the top of each forum. when I mouse over it appears to be a hyperlink but I don't get the pull down when I click on it. I can tell you that the tool at the bottom of the main forum page to mark all forums read works. I am using Firefox 3.0.8 and don't have problems with this tool on other websites (ABUA site for example)

  8. That's not interpretation; thats called ignorance!
  9. Is the OP poster sure R3 was attempting a straight steal? I have never seen R3 attempt a straight steal with R1 and R3. R3 usually waits until he sees what happens with the throw (if there is one) to second. On this type of delayed steal we surely would not call R3 out for BI, so why do it on a straight steal if no attempt is being made on R3?
  10. Greeting from the very wet Northwest (Seattle area). I am new at this being in my 3rd year. Started like many with LL. 2years ago I joined NBUA (North west Baseball umpire Assoc) and am doing games up to JV, 16U select and Mens adult BB. My training foundation comes from a week long LL umpire clinic in San Bernadino, CA. Sounds hokey but it was a very well run clinic based on a lot of Evans's teachings. Luckily my Assoc puts a great training program each Feb with 4-5 instructors who work PBUC and NCAA D1 that has enabled me to learn the 90' mechanics. Still though, I plan on attending the Evan desert classic in the near future. I did about 100 games over the last 2 years which I know isn't a lot but I am limited by having a 14 y/o son playing Koufax/tournament ball and I like to watch him play. That makes for missing a lot of weekend umpiring opportunities. I visit numerous umpire forums and have learned a great deal from them. Hoping I can get even more knowledge from this site
