I been using the helmet about 5 years now, first 2 I had a cheep helmet, had the ear rings, but when you buy a good helmet, you won't have the ear rings, like the new Wilson or I have use the ALL STAR MVP2200SL for 3 years now and it's great. I use the traditional for about 10 years before going to the helmet
  3. Working a HS JV game and my partner doesn't show up, so I work it 1 man, both HC wasn't happy about only one Ump at the plate meeting, ended up being a great 7 inning game, home team won in the bottom of the 7th score 2-1 there was 8 double plays in the game, bang call at every base, even had a Bald Eagle land on the 3rd base line, had to run him or her, game lasted 1:35, after the game, taking off my gear in parking lot, I was just beat and drain, loosing team's bus was driving pass me to go catch there ferry back to Seattle, when they stop and the HC and Pitcher and Catcher came over to shake my hand and thank me
  4. Hi all New to forum,I live in Bremerton, WA, been umpiring about 10 years, started in Little League with my Grandson, joined association about 6 years ago, Work HS varsity to Pee Wees, last July I work the Big League Baseball Western Regional in Silverdale, WA. This year I have been invited to Montana, to work the Senior Softball Western Regional, looking forward to that. I didn't start umpiring till my mid 40's started a little late, my goal is to be a D-1 umpire in my association, I just made Journeymen, one more step to go. I'm the type who thinks I can learn every time on the field, I have never left a game in witch I didn't ask partner if he seen anything, even lower level umpires, because it gives me a chance to explain why I did it, I'm looking forward to reading post and learning from them
