  1. The disclaimer is awesome! I have a big smile, silent laughs, a confused look, and wondering which "Todd" is going to chime in first.
  2. I had the pleasure of working with our Associations lone female member yesterday, and felt honored to do so. We've worked together before, it just seemed a little more special since it was Mother's Day. She had the choice of which plates she wanted; the first 3, of course. In the 2nd or 3rd game, she had a coach, and his 2 assistants complaining about a batter being out of the box and making contact, well actually knocking the cover off the ball. There hadn't been a defined batter's box since the 1st inning of game one. They complained every time that kid got a hit, when they started in again on his 2nd AB, I started walking up to assist her, she seen me coming and just gave me a look that said "stay where you are, I can handle these jerks", and she did. By the end of the game, I'm positive they were asking each other "why didn't we just keep our mouths shut?" When our day was finished and we were walking to the parking lot, she had more than a couple people telling her what a great job she did handling those coaches. @Umpirechick1, you keep calling strikes and outs, and know that when you need us, your brothers will always have your back!
  3. The topic title is a quote from Christmas Vacation . Obviously I'm new to the site. Joined last week and quickly lost 2 or 3 hours reading different post in various categories. So much great info on here, and way more interesting than digging thru any rule book. I've umpired on and off for 10-15 years, small town city league, but it's only been the last 3 that I have actually started to get serious about it. I moved to Northwest Arkansas and somehow met the right people in our small little umpiring world. I was blown away by their professionalism, and willingness to teach a total stranger everything they had to share. Fast forward 3 years, several hundred league and U-Trip games combined and I just completed my first HS season. I know that most, if not all of the questions asked on here can be looked up in a rule book, there's just something about being able to ask a question and getting the same answer but from different points of views that has me hooked. I'm looking forward to asking dumb questions and getting sarcastic answers. Wait, that's not right. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends.
