I had the pleasure of working with our Associations lone female member yesterday, and felt honored to do so. We've worked together before, it just seemed a little more special since it was Mother's Day. She had the choice of which plates she wanted; the first 3, of course.
In the 2nd or 3rd game, she had a coach, and his 2 assistants complaining about a batter being out of the box and making contact, well actually knocking the cover off the ball. There hadn't been a defined batter's box since the 1st inning of game one. They complained every time that kid got a hit, when they started in again on his 2nd AB, I started walking up to assist her, she seen me coming and just gave me a look that said "stay where you are, I can handle these jerks", and she did. By the end of the game, I'm positive they were asking each other "why didn't we just keep our mouths shut?"
When our day was finished and we were walking to the parking lot, she had more than a couple people telling her what a great job she did handling those coaches.
@Umpirechick1, you keep calling strikes and outs, and know that when you need us, your brothers will always have your back!
