I just started umpiring last year. Last night I was scoring for my son's home game (middle school), as well as operating the scoreboard. I inadvertently scored the last out as the runner batting in 4 hole. In actuality, that runner scored, and the 3rd out was on the runner batting 5th. Between innings the other team scorekeeper came over to compare books and I quickly corrected my book to reflect the added run.
My question is this: If the home book is wrong and the visiting team disputes the score, what is the role of the umpire in this dilemma?
