Thanks guys!!! I had a parent at a game ask me that questions. I answered them correctly but just wanted to reassure myself. I am a newer umpire so I second guess myself at times.

Fed rules question. R1 and 0 outs. Batter hits a line drive to F5. F5 throws to F3 to get R1 before he gets back to tag. Ball is thrown out of play. The question is does R1 have to touch first base before he can go to third for the base awards? I am thinking yes and if he doesn't the defense could appeal for not retouching the base before going to awarded base.

Fed rules. Runner on first. Line drive hit to F5. He catches the ball in air and then throws to F3 to get the runner trying to return to first because he started running on contact. Ball short hops F3 and gets by him and rolls out of play. My first thoughts was the runner gets third for the award. 2 base award so he goes to third his TOP was first. He is awarded second base. What is the correct award?

This is probably the biggest part umpiring I have yet to overcome myself. I have yet had to really deal with a coach. I guess I have just been lucky so far but I know it's coming one day. Sure I have been talked to but not to any point I felt the coach was getting to far with me or maybe I haven't realized it. I have only been umpiring for a year and a half or so. I know dealing with coaches takes time to figure out but I worry myself to death about it. Anyone have any advice to help a new guy out?

Thanks. That helps give me more insight on it. Didn't think about it like that. I have never called it or really seen it. Just a thought I had if or when I see it how to judge it.

Fed rules. If a ground ball is hit to F6 and the runner stop or does a dance move in front of F6 before the ball arrives would that be considered interference. My thinking that it is because it's hindering the fielder on his chance to make a play.

Been there before myself. Rang a kid up on strike 2. Batter looks at me and the catcher laughed. Indicator was right on the money but I guess my brain wasn't. Coach comes to me in the half inning and thanked me for the laugh.

Fed rules set. No runners on. Batter hits ground ball to F6. F6 throws to F3. Good throw to F3 but he drops the ball as soon as it hits the glove. Ball rolls toward home plate on the foul line. F3 down on his hands and knees tries to get the ball and the B/R trips over F3 and misses the base. I called OBS because B/R had no acces to the base to touch it because F3 was blocking his path to the base. Was this the correct call on the play?
