U2 (not the band) starting positions

So I haven’t had cable for the last couple of years, so I get to see very little baseball, unfortunately. The fam is on vacation and we took in a Twins game last night. I noticed nearly all, save one, position had U2 at 1-2 BLE & 2-3 BLE (almost all the way to the grass) for all calls. The one situation was with R2, R1, 3-2, 2 outs - he came into deep B. Seems like a lot has changed in the last 5 years or so (3-5 is when I noticed some of these little tweaks here & there, just haven’t been able to notice in the last 2).
 
Oh, and U1 & U3 are really sliding over the foul line for check swings it seems.
