I just updated the spreadsheet I use to track my games and payment.

I have been working Adult Wood Bat, HS, Legion, USSSA, PONY and LL games.

Last night I worked our LL Major Championship Game on the :home:. Had a 4 man crew and it was a great game. We had no issues during the game. It was a Honor to get the assignment.

That was game 163 worked for 2010 :smachhead:

I still have the following scheduled 8 Legion HS games (thru July), 18 Adult games (thru Aug), unknown number or LL All Star Games (thru July) and unknown number of USSSA games that will go through December. It is looking like 200 before the end of August. If I work just the number of games I worked last Aug thru Dec (52 games) I should easily break 250 without even trying. :banghead:

I also had 19 rain outs in Feb and Mar and was out for 2 weeks due to a torn calf muscle.

I have had times where the amount of games I was working got to me and it was a chore to go out and work them. (Felt burned out). At times I didn't feel up to a LL Assignment, I called on someone else to take a game or at least switch and take the plate so I could work the bases instead of the plate.

During this time I have only spent one night in a motel so I would not finish a game at 10 PM, drive 40 miles home to get up and drive back for a 8 AM game during a weekend tournament.

I have no idea how MLB Umpires spend all that time on the road.

I also now realize I need to become more selective in accepting games from assignors. :big_no Sorry can't help on that day.

Even with the temporary burned out feelings I have encountered, I look back and think, Wow I am having the time of my life  and feel very fortunate to live here in Southern California and to be asked to work the games I do in 6 different Associations.

I guess I have said enough :blah :blah and is now time to take a nap  before I go out to work my 2 Adult games this evening.

To all my Brothers in Blue

It truly is a Brotherhood.

Great for you. Tons of game but lots of fun.

How do they do it? They make about ten times as much as we do and get to rub elbows with guys we dream about. Sure there are negatives but they work nine months a year and make a ton.

What I have no idea is how the MiLB umpires do it. Always traveling, cheap motels and only making between $1500 and $3100 a month depending on the level of ball they work and come 2012 I'm probably going to try and go for it.:smachhead:
