  1. Last week I had to go to my car and put on a sweater mid game! It has been a cool spring. Two years ago It did snow during a game and I was freezing on the bases. I had to stand behind a dugout out of the wind. I go to games thinking I am going to sweat and end up cold. Bizarre May weather in Alberta . Yesterday I put together an all weather clothing kit for these situations.
  2. Umpiring is not the most relaxing hobby and it must be hard to combine it with a demanding stressful job. After a bad game I wonder what the heck I am doing. I love the game though and enjoy working with the young players. I am close to retirement and baseball will keep me busy and provide income at some point. All the best.
  3. Hello. I am a third year umpire and a level 2 in Alberta. Before umpiring I coached for 4 years. I started umpiring house league or A level 13 and 15U. Second year I moved up to 18U and at the end of the season worked Provincials as a base ump for 15U AA. Two weekends ago I worked a 13U AA weekend and this past weekend I umpired three 15U AA exhibition games. I thought I almost had it figured out and then got some tough love from a crusty 30 year veteran ump. It was a wake up call and started searching for advice and found this site. Nice to be here.
