@BT_Blue Well, I guess it’s been a while since I posted this, so here’s what has happened. I decided I would get into umpiring high school games, so I went through some training and testing. My first high school game behind the plate is this Saturday! I fully agree with the buy once, cry once philosophy. I found some great deals on clothes through the local association, but I paid good money for my plate gear. I carefully weighed the suggestions given here, but had to deviate a bit to fit a guy my size (I’m 6’4/275lbs). I ended up with: Champro Pro-plus plate armor 16” - I went this route because as the length increases, so does the width Diamond big league aluminum mask w/ 6” vented guard 3n2 Reaction low pro plate shoes Wilson MLB platinum shin guards 18.5” and a bunch of clothes and such. It was estimated that I would be into this about $400, but I think that so far I am actually about double that!!

Hey All, Im just getting into umpiring my boys’ little league games, and I’d like to look into the possibility of getting some of my own equipment. The league provides some, but I know how sweaty I get in it and I’m sure nobody wants to put it on after I’m done! I’d like to hear what you all might recommend for gear, and hopefully maybe point me in the right direction for some resources/suppliers where I could order some. Since we’re talking little league, I don’t necessarily need top tier gear. Thanks in advance for all your help!
