Thanks for the responses, especially about not doing the paperwork. My take away from this, there is now no record that the pitcher intentionally beaned a batter and my son spent the next 3 innings talking about retaliation. The batter has had a mouth all season, but this was more about bat swinging, pitcher stepping off batter stepping out. There was no history between the teams. I just don't see a need to intentionally bean a kid. Nor is it okay to retaliate and potentially hurt the pitcher later in the game. It would have been so much easier to toss him and end that situation. The baseball God's sorted it out. The beaned batter scored the go ahead run in the 4th inning and they lit up the relievers for 5 more in the next two innings.

U13 state tournament, pitcher and batter jawing at each other. 2-0 count, next pitch fastball high and inside. Batter ducks more words exchanged. Next pitch right between the shoulder blades. Batter down for a while but when he gets up. Pitcher waves at him as he goes to first. Umpire asks coach to remove player from pitching but not the game. Two questions, can an umpire do this? Why wouldn't the umpire eject pitcher from game? I don't know what was said between batter and pitcher.
