  1. I've seen two really bad bat throwing incidents in my time playing bar league softball... The first was really crazy.. Could have killed the ump... A guy on the other team hit a meager foul pop up along the 3rd base side... He tooka few steps toward first instinctively, then saw the result, and immediately threw the bat as hard as he could at the backstop. It missed the umps faces by about an inch (I was catching and had a perfect view of it). The ump (probably the best one out league has) just lost it and tossed the guy. He had already been warned for throwing a bat earlier. The best part? They were killing us by like 9 runs in the last inning. The second one was more slightly more sinister. A seperate team had a real troublemaker on their team, always looking to fight.. He was actually banned from the league and joined a new team under a new name (beer leagues!). Anyway he starts arguing with out RF and actually walked onto the field with a bat gesturing at our RF with it and challenging him to fight. Our RF (who was never shy about fighting either) ridiculed him for needing a bat to be a tough guy. So this idiot just tosses the bat back over his dugout fence and smashes his own teammate square in the forehead. Huge welt and bruise... For a few minutes we thought he might have to go to the hospital. Crazy part about this one... The guy wasn't even ejected. That ump is EASILY our worst one.
  2. Seems legit. Haha
  3. Hey guys.. Glad I found this forum.. Looks like I'll like it here... I grew up watching my dad ump and always wanted to do it.. I always say that I wanted to be an ump before I wanted to be a ball player... Finally got my foot in the door this year, doing little league games.. Will be attending ump school in January (2017) so that I can graduate to higher grounds and continue this passion. I truly love being on the field. I'm very proud to wear my uniform, even for just my small Little League games. I just wish I could find a way to make this a full time job! My dad would tell me that if an umpire did an absolute perfect job, then the coaches wouldn't even be able to pick you out of a police lineup. He obviously knew how unrealistic that was, but it always stuck in my mind as something to shoot for each game. Anyway, I'm excited to be in the fraternity and to have found this site.
