  1. The content on this website is great. I lurk here every day trying to learn more so I can avoid being one of those coaches/parents. I challenge myself to answer other people's questions before I read the experienced umps' replies. The current format needs improvement and I am sure the owner is working on that. Is there a way to make sort by date the default instead of sort by rating?

    Tagging a bat

To my non-umpire brain, tagging the bat is not tagging the runner. But if it was, wouldn't the runner also be able to touch the base with his bat to be safe? Seems unlikely to be practical even if it were allowed.

  4. If history is our guide, they won't listen. I agree. I really wish Hamilton had been running just to see it play out.
  5. I am the one who posted this (Hamilton video) at BBF. I am glad that someone else cross posted it here to get some clarification. Hopefully this can settle the debate.
  6. Thanks Jocko.
  7. I am not an umpire (just a parent/coach trying to learn), so I cannot comment on mechanics. I am more interested in the play itself. I am not sure what the rule set was back then. The league is not affiliated with LLI, but some years have used LL rulebook while other years modified FED. IIRC, F2 dropped the ball in the collision. After the video ended, the umpire realized ball was dropped, but called the runner out for interference or MC maybe. They do have a must slide or avoid contact rule, so maybe that.was the reason for the out. I am more interested in what you would call if it was straight OBR or straight FED.
  8. Here is a 10U play from about three years ago with a collision between catcher and runner at the plate. Is this simply a train wreck or is it something else?
  9. Non-ump lurker here... At what age do most umps enforce this rule? My son's 10U team faced a pitcher with an all gray glove in a tournament this summer. My son's coach asked the ump about it, but the ump allowed the pitcher to use it anyway. I assume it was his only glove. I don't know that it really affected the game.
