Went to my first association meeting last night, and a reference was made to a spirited discussion the group had the meeting before so I was left more or less in the dark. Here's the sitch; R1, RHP comes to set position with non-pivot (left) foot at an angle toward the 1BL (opening up the body some). The comment was that this is technically a balk and that the non-pivot foot has to be entirely in front of the rubber. I looked all over the pitching rules and couldn't find anything restricting the placement of the foot other than it has to be in front of the plane of the front of the rubber. What am I missing? Thanks in advance. I really enjoy looking over these forums and learning from others' knowledge.

I am returning to umpiring after many years away from the game, and am buying all new gear. After a lot of research (mostly reading this forum) I have settled on either the Gold or Platinum CP, and would like to get some opinions of the differences between the two. The cost difference isn't enough to sway me one way or the other, so I'm mainly looking into fit and protection issues. I'm 5-9, 200#, so yes, I have a bit of a gut which I'm trying to lose. I realize a lot of this has probably been talked to death, but I appreciate any input you gear gurus can provide.
