FED game.

B1 hits a ground ball to F6, who tries to retire B1 at first base. F6's throw gets past F3 and rolls toward the dugout, where the ball stops just before rolling into DBT. As F3 chases after the ball, he picks it up just after it stops and then steps into DBT, taking the ball with him.

I'm 99.9% sure that this is the same as a play I had last year where F2 was backing up a play at first and knocked the ball into the dugout after it had stopped rolling. The base award is no longer two bases from the TOP, but two bases from when the player knocks the ball into DBT. The problem is that I cannot find this rule reference or interp anywhere. I swear I saw it in my BRD a couple of weeks ago, but can't find it now. Can anyone help?

zm1283,

Go ahead and add 10 "basis point" to your certainty factor.

In the BRD, check: Awards to: Runner: Pitch: Deflected unintentionally to dead-ball area. It's #38 in the 2008 edition. There is a clarifying A.R. in the FED discussion.
