Little League Majors division. (11&12 yr-olds).  Are there any specific rules regulating the size/dimension/length etc of a portable mound?  Our league has a couple of "homemade" mounds that the boys are using.  The taller pitchers that really stride out when they throw a pitch are landing on the edge of the portable mound with half thier stride foot on the mound and half the foot off the mound.  It's really disrupting the delivery.  There is one pitcher that purposely strides short to avoid this problem, but that isn't really good form.  You want those pitchers to be able to stride out.  They can't pile dirt up to try to remedy this because invariably the dirt is really dry dust and simply disappears after 4-5 pitches.  Even if it's watered down the dirt is pushed away after 6-8 pitches.    It's really getting in the pitcher's heads.  It becomes a mental struggle.  It seems like it creates an unfair advantage for a team that has a shorter pitcher that doesn't have this problem.  Another of the portable mounds is really short.  The pitcher has to land flat on the ground which doesn't seem like it is safe.  That mound is like pitching off a box.  it's really awkward. I can't find any specific Little League rules that address these issues.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Contact your regional office or LL directly.

Portable mounds are allowed, but I am assuming they are the 'regulation mounds' that were initially approved by them.

This would be the same as a bat IMO, and a safety issue.

The fact that the mound is portable doesn't relieve it from meeting the specifications in rule 1.

If it turns out your mounds aren't legal, now what?  I'd guess everyone knows the portable mounds aren't great already.  The league needs clay, water, shovels, and volunteers to make this right.  I hope your board of directors would support you if you volunteered to organize a remedy.
