Sad Day For The Hockey World

I know this doesn't have anything to do with Baseball or Umpiring, but, it does have something to do with the world of sport.

A jetliner carrying the entire Russian KHL team, Lokomotiv, crashed last evening/early this morning in Russia on its way to Minsk. All but two of its 45 passengers were killed. One player and one crew member survived. On-board this flight was recent Detroit Red Wings Assistant Coach Brad McCrimmon. It is also reported that recent Red Wing Defenseman Ruslan Salei was also on-board, but, that has not been confirmed. My condolences go out to all the families and friends who lost loved ones in the tragic accident.

Its been a rough summer

First Boogard and his accidental overdose. Then Rypien. Then Belak's suicide. And now this. Everyone in the hockey world is in shock of everything that has gone down the last 3-4 months.

It sure has! Hopefully, once the teams get back on the ice things will get better! It can't get any worse...
