This is one of the reasons I like umping!!!

Last night I has a good game. Two good teams one of which my little towns team. I know most of the kids because I have been umping them from church, baseball and two of them umpire machine pitch for me. Any way, on with the story

Bottom of the 7th, score 9 - 7, 2-2 count, men on first and second, batter fouls off three pitches. I'm in the field and can tell Batter is all over this pitcher. I think to myself "It would be cool if he hit a home run." and I just get that thought out of my head and BING!!! It was so long gone the center fielder didn't ever and run. He smoked that thing. It was a cool moment.

As an umpire I keep my feeling impartial. I tell the kids when they as me off the field "what was with that call Mr. Scott" I tell them why they why I made the call and I try to teach them a little bit about how umpire see plays and make calls so they can be better.
