Majors Softball.... I know a girl is allowed to go directly to second on a walk...with risk of being thrown out....if the pitcher has the ball in the circle as long as she does not hesitate at or while rounding first base. What is the call, if any, if she does hesitate while rounding first base? Situation.....Runner on 3rd. One out. Batter earns a walk. Starts off to first base. Ball is returned to the pitcher who is now on the rubber, well within the circle. R1 reaches first and starts toward second. After a few steps she hesitates and tries to get attention of pitcher. She steps back toward first and then goes off to second.
