I was Umpiring Adult Men's Recreational league slow pitch softball. I was the plate Umpire on Field 3 During change of players between innings in the bottom of the 5th Inning, I heard yelling and F bombs from the field next to mine Field 2 I looked over at field 2 to see a Adult player, yelling less than 2 inches from the face of The field Umpire and it looked like he was threatening him and getting ready to fight. Nobody was assisting the field Umpire I quickly called time on my game told the field Umpire to hold a min, that there was trouble on field 2 and I went over to assist. The game on field 2 was stopped and I walked over to the first base dugout which held the still yelling ejected player. I DID NOT EVEN NEED TO SAY ANYTHING. OR TOUCH A PLAYER The yelling was over and the player was ejected. I walked behind the guy being ejected and he yelled a bit more at the field Umpire from the scorekeepers table. In less than 3 min When I got back to my field when both the score keeper and fans belittled me for assisting another Umpire. Should you ever leave your field to assist another Umpire team even if a fight has not started yet ? Sam Btw I am 52 years old but I am 6'5 330 pounds
