Quick rules question that came up during a recent discussion. When it comes to baseball batting gloves, are they officially treated as part of the player’s uniform, or are they considered separate equipment? I’ve seen situations where things like loose gear or accessories can affect rulings (HBP, interference, detached equipment, etc.), so it made me wonder where batting gloves actually fall in that classification. For example: If a ball contacts batting gloves that are being worn or tucked in a pocket, does that get treated the same as hitting the body? Are there any restrictions on how they’re worn (loose, hanging out, etc.)? Does NFHS handle this any differently compared to OBR or NCAA? I’m curious how others interpret this and if there’s any clear rule reference that defines it.
